While most people head to the French Riviera to soak up the sun and the local cuisine, Normandy is also a great beach destination, albeit entirely different.

We’ve found some of the best beaches in Normandy to visit when you’re in the area and looking to soak up some sun.

Check out our post on the best sunglasses for the beach.

The best beaches in Normandy France

Beaches of Étretat

This beach in Normandy wins the contest simply for the stunning scenery! You know the famous, dramatic white cliffs of France? Well, it’s there. It may be a rocky beach – literally – but the setting is simply too gorgeous to pass. Indulge with some local apéritif, and cross your fingers for good weather.

Beaches of Deauville

Perhas the most glamorous beach of Normandy. Not only is it one of the few sandy beaches of the area, it’s also home to the prestigious American Film Festival every year. The boardwalk is the best witness of this event, with famous names lining up one behind the other.

Beaches of Trouville

Despite a rather eloquent name (Trouville in French means, quite literally, Hole City). This may actually be the easiest option. Fewer crowds than Étretat, less glitzy than Deauville and also fairer prices.

Going to Normandy to visit Mont Saint Michel is also a popular activity along with visiting the beaches in Normandy France.
